Engines 13 and 11 on Apartment Fire

By Lieutenant Brian Shipley
January 6, 2010

At around 10:30 p.m. on January 5, Box Alarm 9-5 was struck for the 8900 block of Tamar Drive. Engine 13 was 3rd due engine and Engine 11 was 4th due.

Battalion Chief 1 arrived first to find a three story apartment building with smoke showing. E91 arrived and reported heavy fire from the rear on the 2nd and 3rd floor. E13 arrived and laid out from the complex and stretched an attack line to the rear and was redirected to the 3rd floor. FF Merson was on the nozzle and did an outstanding job knocking the fire in the apartment. While E13 was knocking the fire, E11 was checking exposures for residents and hot spots. After the fire was out and the overhaul was done, E13 picked up and went in service.

Pictures will be up soon!

Units: E13, E11
