Firefighters from Station 1 reunite with a former patient
Friday, January 6, 2023

Career firefighters from Station 1 in Elkridge were thrilled to reunite with a former patient. In August 2021, Ethan was in a severe skateboarding accident without a helmet, resulting in a brain bleed and other serious head and neck trauma. Ethan was unconscious when our crews arrived on the scene, and he was immediately transported to a regional trauma center.
Though his recovery is still ongoing, Ethan told the crews that their quick thinking and speed in getting him to the hospital made a life-saving impact on his miraculous recovery. Since his accident, Ethan graduated high school and is now a freshman in college.
Ethan says he’ll continue looking for ways to share his story with others as a real-life example of why wearing a helmet is so important.
